University of Rochester Ambulatory Surgery Center

Project Description: Design of an 80,000 square foot building with a 52,000 square foot ambulatory surgery center and a 28,000 square foot space for future tenants.

Design Challenges…Met

This project consisted of ten operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and over 50 pre-op, post-op, and PACU rooms. HVAC systems consisted of a central station VAV with hot water reheat. Medical gases included oxygen, nitrous and vacuum. A Material Processing space was equipped with cart washers, washer/disinfectors, sterilizers, and other equipment. A central steam plant provided steam required for the sterilization equipment. A 300 kW emergency generator provided life safety, critical and equipment branch emergency power.
